Power of 5
What if Dec 21st, 2012 was the day that the Alternate Economy is finally able to form a bank?
Could we actually get to that point in less than 11 months?
Let us look at the power of 5.
There are currently a little over 600 followers to this blog. Imagine if each and every one of you took it upon yourselves to tell all of your friends about this idea. Imagine if all of you felt compelled to post my blog on your facebook page and invite your friends to come and check out this idea. Imagine if all of you sent emails to your closest loved ones. If you took my article on love and sent it to your favourite people. I am quite positive that each one of you knows 5 people that would appreciate this movement. That would enjoy my ideas. That search for love as you do.
So, imagine now that all 600 of you share my message with all of your friends and are able to convince 5 of them to commit to living in love, as you have. I doubt it would take more than a month for you to accomplish this task. That means in one month we would have 3,000 people in our community of love.
Imagine that those 3,000 people do exactly what you have done. They all share this idea with their friends and they all are able to convince 5 people to join us. one more month and all of a sudden our membership is closer to 15,000. Another month after that and we hit 65,000. Lo and behold, a mere 4 months from now we not only hit our goal of 250,000 but surpase it by many tens of thousands of people willing to live in love. That puts us somewhere in June of 2012. Another month to organize ourselves and we are in July. 4 months of saving as a community and we hit November of 2012 and have secured the assets to open our bank. After all the red tape and paper work the doors to our bank open about 6 weeks later, on December 21st, 2012.
It sounds like a pyramid sheme. Except it differs in one way. There is no promise to get rich quick, no money involved in the recruiting stage. The recruiting stage is all about love. The currency ideas. The income knowledge.
Imagine a pyramid scheme where the only investment was sharing ideas of love. How could you fail? Your only mission to find 5 people who live in love. If you bring five people into this community you have done your job. Your ultimate reward is not to get rich. Your ultimate reward is an opportunity. An opportunity to take your passions and turn them into something real. To live a life of love, with no encumbrances.
You could like this article and move on to the next blog. Or you could join me in searching for those 5 people you know are ready for these ideas as well. I will not find 250,000 people alone. But together we can do anything!
“If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself. If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation.” – Lao Tzu
What is the currency of this bank?
Please take a look at the rest of this blog. It is very detailed and too large to answer this question in one comment. At first, the currency will be dollars, until we can break free from the current system. The idea is to secure resources, which are true wealth, and replace dollars with a currency that better helps humanity to live in love.
love is free
Love is free. Freedom isn’t… We will need to buy our freedom.
If everybody shared what they had, only took what they needed, with no thought of any gain for themselves then they would be enough for everyone and everyone would be equal. Besides you weren’t talking about freedom you were talking about Love.
I feel like we are saying the same thing. The Alternate Economy is all about sharing our excess and using only what we need.

I’m more inclined to think that the power of social media is closer to the power of 3, but the points raised in this blog post are quite valid just the same… My 3 and Tristan’s 5 are really pointing at two different aspects of the same thing. However, I would use a smaller number because I think that it conveys a message that is closer to reality.
My reasons for choosing a smaller number are mostly because I think that human networks tend to overlap where they are close – where they are more powerful – and tend to be unique only as they disperse – where one’s influence weakens. Thus, the ability to exert anything but a weak influence via social media is rather random.
Still, I am firmly committed to living in love!!!
a weak influence is better than none, which is what I currently have. 5 is optimistic, I have no doubt, but this site is pushing optimism. Even with the power of 3 this idea will become succesful in less than a year. Also, I alone reached 400 people in one month… so asking all of you to reach 5 is not that impossible.
Hey Tristan – yes i am a believer in that sharing with no “investment” concept. It is what started happening at my blog where the concept became bigger than anything I could’ve thought would happen. The alternate economy is a definite tangible & palpable reality in my mind. Cheers to you
