Experimental Farm – 2012

I am excited to announce that the Alternate Economy will be running an Experimental Farm this summer, with many thanks to Ian Walker of Mariposa Farms. We have been given access to a small plot of land to use, free of charge, to grow crops and raise awareness for living in generosity and Love. Assuming that we maintain the land and the crops and provide the seed, we are free to use the land as we wish.
The Final Six Proposals have been submitted and the Voting closes tomorrow, Thursday Feb. 23rd, 2012 and 2:00pm. If you wish to have your voice heard, now is the time to do so. You may vote up to one time on each proposal. Feel free to leave comments. Tomorrow will be the unveiling of the final proposals which will be going forward.
Congratulations Tristan.. Happy to see when a plan come together! Great! 🙂 News xx
This is a really neat idea! How can I support this project???
At this point it is all about ideas. Eventually, once the weather starts to warm… mid march or so, we will need to start buying seeds and trays to start our seedlings. I am trying to see how to best get people involved. Maybe you could mail seeds, or something along that nature… How would you like to help?
I can mail seeds 🙂 What kind of seeds do you need? Grass? Vegetables??? I am not rich but I think this is a great idea and would love to help in any way I can 🙂
Look to the proposals included in this post to see what I plan on growing. There are peppers, tomatoes, herbs and even potato varieties to choose from. I am not rich either, but if everyone contributes a package or two, this will not be a burden on any of us. Thank you so much for the kindness and support!
I think you should grow white sage to make smudging sticks.
I absolutely love this concept! I just started skimming over your blog in general and of course started with your intro and moved onto this post first. Your ideas are revolutionary and, in my opinion, right on! I am excited to continue reading your opinions on how we can work toward fixing the situation we and generations before us have created.
Thank you for visiting my blog. I look forward to hearing more from you in the future!
This is such a cool idea, and you are a real example of the power of initiative.
I have some hesitation about the charity of choice, though… http://liquorstorebear.com/2011/12/14/choose-your-charity-wisely-the-not-so-secret-sa-anti-gay-agenda/
cheers
An interesting point. I have not settled on an actual recipient of the donated veggies, but a soup kitchen of some sort seems to fit the bill. Feel free to suggest other options.
Wonderful concept. You have an interesting blog and I’ll be back to spend more time here.
I’m just so impressed with your vision, your commitment, your drive, and your belief in the possibility for a better world. You are just what humanity needs.
Thank you. It is comments like yours that help to fuel my fires. A purpose begins to take shape in a world which once seemed without meaning.
