YOU CAN ONLY SEE THE STARS AT NIGHT
They are there, always there
Yet no matter how bright
One alone outshines them all
Masking the rest with its Light
In perpetual daytime
There is no real hope
Of seeing another Source
Of Light of such scope
At night — only then
When the background is dark
Can they inspire and delight us
Can we bear witness to the Celestial Sparks
At night we escape
The blinding homogeny of day
Our perceptions are opened
To what blue skies cannot portray
It is only in schism
That the Light can be felt
The darker the sky
The more vivid Orion’s Belt
Life and Art have in common
One aspect at least
Variety and contrast
Add spice to the feast
