The Alternate Economy
In this blog I have gone into a lot of detail about one idea. This idea is divided into many smaller aspects which are represented by the various posts I have made up to this point. All of the posts have one common theme, however. All of the posts on this blog discuss the idea of Balance. They come from the position that all things on this Earth relate to Love and our understanding of it. We can express Love in many ways, either positively or negatively. But it is when we balance our emotions that we find Love has the greatest chance to blossom.

The following table presents my philosophy in the order it was meant to be read. Please, expect new updates frequently as I fill in this array with new essays. There are many other posts on this site as well, but I recommend reading these posts as they appear. I hope you enjoy what I have to offer!

I like how you have laid this out, Tristan. I will explore your blog more carefully. Your poem arrived quite unexpected this morning. I had not even remembered that you asked for it until I was almost through transcribing it. It will appear on my blog today at four p.m. my time (1 pm your time). The name is Child of Peace. I will link it back to your blog, of course. hugs, pat
Thank you Pat. You are the best!
Good stuff.
What about bartering ?
At its core the Alternate Economy is an organized way to shift from our current system of currency to a system of barter and trade.
An excellent philosophy and message!
thanks for the support. I hope to hear more from you!
Perfect diagram. It’s refreshing to see something honest, something valid, and quite relevant to society.
Thank you for the encouragement. I would love to hear more from you!
Sharing on facebook to get other’s interested might be a good idea…. I’ll do it too!!!
If you feel comfortable sharing, this would be a great way to get my ideas out there!
Thank you for the support!
Hi Tristan,
Thanks for dropping by my blog.
I’m reading up all your stuff, and I’m thinking, would you like to work to transform your blog posts in an ebook? You have a great structure, all you need is to link it all together. I think it would be a great read for a lot of people out there.
Contact me if you’re interested!
I would love this, but know very little about it. Please, tell me more.
Brilliant. You have defined a cogent and practical economic solution that we would be well served to practice and espouse. It’s simplicity defies convention. Though the economy of greed is painful, harmful, and soul killing; it is what we as a country have come to accept as the ultimate coinage. I appreciate you offering an alternative perspective and food for thought. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the support. I hope to see you here again in the future. Together we will create the discussion that changes the world.
As part of the Versatile Blogger Award, I have chosen you and your blog as one to be recognized as a blog that I find to be creative, reflecting the thoughts and feelings of the author in a way that touches the hearts and mind of others. There are so many to choose from – Thank you for sharing your world ….
Please feel free to post the award on your site.

I have known for a while that our economy is crap, but do you think it is really possible for there to be an economy based on generosity when people all over might or might not lack the ability to see when they are being greedy? I for one like the idea, I don’t mind helping someone out, granted they deserve help, but there are people who think only for money. Now I haven’t read all of this blog yet, but this is just my comment on the general idea.
I embrace your comments.
I ask that you read my post on trust. If we cannot trust in ourselves, how can we trust in others… Think on that.
How would you act if you were given free access to all resources?
I for one, given access to all resources, would try to find a way to make progress for all mankind, but I have never been known to be a greedy man.
Now, do you believe all people to be equal? Do you think that perhaps those who are greedy do so out of experience. It is greed that has allowed them to survive. But in an economy of generosity, greed will be met with generosity. How long will these people, who are your equals, be able to justify their behaviour to themsleves?
We must first change ourselves, if we are ever to expect others to change.
I don’t believe all people to be equal, but I do believe all humans to be human, and you have a point in saying an economy of generosity will reduce Greed, but I do not believe that it will stop it completely. So say hypothetically it doesn’t eliminate greed, what do you plan to do with people who do turn out Greedy?
They are welcome to continue their lives on their own. Part of trusting that all humans are equal is trusting that all humans want freedom. Freedom is never found in greed. When we are greedy we must constantly keep secrets and hide our wealth, protecting it from others greed. Where is the freedom in that? I believe, to the bottom of my soul, that no human will look upon what we create and not want to be a part of it. They will change not because we ask them to, but because they want to.
Keep up the good work.
This is so cool! Thanks for the visit. Thanks for posting this. Finally a blog about the important stuff!
Drummers will have to study a bit of those new economic views…! Great post!
I really like this diagram of thought- great job.
Love is such a huge topic, I could not do it justice in one document. Each article stands alone, yet works together to produce a beautiful whole. At least, that is my intention.

the diagram of an idea, and a good one at that.!
This is an innovative, interesting, and extremely well put-together post. Thanks for sharing your ideas. Candida
Thank you. I hope you enjoy the structure and pattern of the following series of essays.
Looks like you put a lot of research into this.
“The Alternate Economy”
The name itself got me interested
Nice post. Keep it coming
Fascinating concepts which I must study more fully.
Just on a question of semantics, strictly speaking an alternate economy would mean one from which one switches back and forth. It is a totally alternative economy which is being proposed? For complete clarity the words should not be regarded as interchangeable.
I have heard this before and I disagree. When used as a Noun “Alternate” means the same as alternative, not the same as alternating. The Alternate Economy is correct grammar. It would be AN alternative economy, but THE alternate economy.
OED seems to think otherwise, but I note that it has become accepted as such in American usage. However, I still feel it lacks precision, because one then cannot differentiate between the two concepts.
Unduly pedantic? Probably! 🙂
Maybe I am wrong, but the idea of changing it all now… lol. sorry, ain’t gonna happen!
great idea!
I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award, check it out http://wp.me/p1Vyml-bl 🙂
Thank you so much for considering me!

Great blog and brilliant ideas! Thanks for stopping by. I am definitely following your ideas on the blog 🙂
A lot of folks might call you overly optimistic, idealistic and other such words that have (unfortunately) become a bit cliche in common parlance.
That said, I do agree with your world view and belief in some aspects – I plan to explore your blog/ideas more in depth before commenting further – and particularly about the need for a basic paradigm shift in how we approach our economic lives and culture and our attitude. However by nature I tend to be a bit of a cynic (another term that sadly gets a bad rep oft-times) and so tend to approach these things more gingerly.
Would love to discuss these things with you once I’ve had a chance to read the various linked items on this post.
Oh and thanks for dropping by my blog, it’s always great to see a new face and being a blog that gets nowhere near the commenting and traffic I think yours does it helps keep me posting.
Cheers.
Cynic’s are welcome. Through your appraisal of my ideas, I will only strengthen my argument.
Glad to hear you say that because, it’s not often I come across folks open to critique and debate – on such topics in particular.
Cheers.
I do not pretend to have all the answers. I do have intent, and that I believe to be key.
Well said, no one has all the answers, merely an idea and a direction. The only thing I find worth remembering is that if one is not aware enough then the danger or reliving “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” goes up.
You seem to be more at a basic level and approaching your subject matter in a way that shows that open-ness and willingness to learn which is great. All the best.

Thanks for taking the time to like my post!
liked the post and it surely reflects your thourough research in this matter
and thansk for liking my post 🙂
very interesting indeed
It seems that what we have is not so much an economy as it is a financial system. A true economy puts value to relationships; a financial system is merely transactional. Wendell Berry speaks to that point in many of his essays – good reading
a stunningly beautiful idea
Hi, Tristan. I have named you for the Very Inspiring Blogger award. Congratulations. You will find more at this address: http://diabeticredemption.com/2012/03/10/the-very-inspi…-blogger-award/
Yay you!
thank you so much! I will take a look and respond soon enough!
Your philosophy and ideas are very interesting and refreshing to read. You might like my blog “Step 2 to the Occupy Movement”. It highlights practical ideas that might change things to a better way.
The economy of greed — very apt, very true. Humans have always sought more than what they have needed, but these last 30 years show an escalation into our depravity. As you say, the system is broken, but fixing it will take individual change, one by one.
I never cease to be amazed at how change can come from the individual decisions of ordinary, regular people.
thank you for visiting Middle Aged Plague and liking it.

This is an incredible idea, I am glad there are still minds at work “rediscovering” the basic truths in life. Also, a very helpful and well-thought-out format.
